Lezen & Schrijven Film Awards uitgereikt op Nederlands Film Festival

Dinsdagavond zijn in de Pathé Rembrandt in Utrecht de eerste Lezen & Schrijven Film Awards uitgereikt door onder andere H.K.H. Prinses Laurentien der Nederlanden.

VOX Scripta van Wiebe van den Ende was de grote winnaar. Deze film werd met drie vakprijzen bekroond: Beste Regie, Beste Acteur (Jim Deddes) en Beste Film. De award voor Beste Script ging naar Liefde zonder meer van Lars Damoiseaux. De film Letter van Reinout Hellenthal werd met twee publieksprijzen bekroond: de speciale Taalambassadeursprijs en een stimuleringsprijs van Rotary Club Groningen Bel Campo.

Naast Prinses Laurentien reikten ook scenariste Marieke van der Pol, regisseuse Antoinette Beumer en acteur Barry Atsma een prijs uit.

Cineco heeft haar digitale Nucoda colourgradingsuite met officiële Barco 2K cinemaprojector ter beschikking gesteld voor de jurering van de 12 korte films en heeft de productie van de DCP's van alle films gesponsord.

Uitreiking HFM prijzen 2011

The excellence of the projects presented in Utrecht during the Netherlands Production Platform is reflected in the additional prizes offered from 2011 to help guarantee their completion. Four prizes were awarded yesterday at the Holland Film Meeting.

The Kodak NPP Development Prize, with a value of €5000, is granted annually to the producer of a NPP project from one of the Benelux countries and is intended for investment within the project's further development. The 2011 Kodak NPP Development Prize goes to the project WHISPERING CLOUDS by Meikeminne Clinckspoor and producer Sabine Veenendaal of Flinck Film.

Jury 2011: Olivier Quadrini (Kodak), Wallie Pollé (Cinéart Benelux), Claire Launay (Arte Cinema France): 'Whispering Clouds is 'shouting cinema'. It is promising within its images, its character and the story. We hope that the prize will help to catch all the beauty of Lapland, childhood and care for nature.'

The new Cineco Digital Post Production Award, also valued at €5000, is given to one of the presented Dutch projects and must be used to help finance the film's post-production. The 2011 Cineco Digital Post Production Award goes to THOMAS AND THE BOOK OF EVERYTHING by Ineke Houtman and producers Judith Hees, Hans de Weers of Eyeworks Film and TV Drama.

Jury 2011: San Fu Maltha (Fu Works), Jacobine van der Vloed (CineMart), Kaisa Kriek (NPO):
'It is a story of considerable imagination, ambition and authenticity. Within this magical tale, all audiences can identify with the main character, a child, whose dilemma drives a poignant and gripping drama. It will be the work of a visionary director who has proven in the past that she can deliver films of great warmth and sensitivity.'

The new Binger Award will be given to the most promising Dutch film plan and the prize will include a Binger coaching programme. The 2011 Binger Awards goes to METRO by Marcel Visbeen and producer Trent of NFI Productions.

Jury 2011: Jovan Marjanovic (Head of Industry CineLink), Helena Danielsson (Hepp Film):
'The jury felt the director's approach to making this film makes it a unique development process set to expose the stories, the characters and their world in a multi-layered and complex form.'

And for the first time, a development prize will be awarded to an international NPP project. The Filmmore Innovation Cinema Prize is intended to encourage European filmmakers to explore new and innovative ways of filmmaking and financing their stories. The price has the value of €5000 for postproduction facilities. The 2011 Filmmore Innovation Cinema Prize goes to KORSO by Akseli Tuomivaara and producers Mark Lwoff, Misha Jaari, Elli Toivoniemi of Bufo.

Jury 2011: Wim van Slooten (Filmmore), Sander Verdonk (Lev Pictures), Alan Fountain (EAVE): 'Over the last two days a number of really interesting projects were presented to us. Korso stood out in its portrayal of young people and its unusually extensive research and we believe it has the potential to make a contribution to a refreshing story of a new generation of young European people. It is an engaging and relevant story about growing up that doesn't use the Hollywood format about 'following your dreams'.'

'SILENCE' WINT CINECO AWARD

'Stokje' van Léonie de Boer heeft zondag 12 september de DELTA Young Talent Award gewonnen in de DELTA Shorts filmcompetitie voor korte films tijdens Film By the Sea. Aan deze award is een geldprijs verbonden van €1000,-. De Boer was verantwoordelijk voor zowel regie als scenario en won ook de Award voor Beste scenario (€500,- aangeboden door Red Poppy writer, www.depantalon.nl, Bagels & Beans, Mrs. Marcos,www.opentopzij.nl). Roemer Prins die acteert in 'Stokje' won de Award voor Beste acteur (een DVD-pakket van A-Film). 

De Award voor Beste regie (CINECO Award kleurcorrectie t.w.v. €1.200,-) ging naar Olivier Ballast voor 'Silence'.
De Publieksprijs (NCPholland ondertiteling) was voor Simon Sliphorst met Tommie De Award voor Beste cinematografie (Twee reizen naar hotel Portakal, Dalyan, Turkije mogelijk gemaakt door Portakal Toerisme Nederland) ging naar 'Staat van Angst'. Twee reizen naar hotel Portakal, Dalyan, Turkije mogelijk gemaakt door Portakal Toerisme Nederland. 
De Award voor Beste actrice ging naar Roos Ouwehand uit 'Even' van Anielle Webster. 
De aanmoedigingsprijs (Deelname aan We are next tijdens IFFR 2012 mogelijk gemaakt door EYE Film Instituut Nederland) ging naar Mary Wardak voor 'The Never Happy Ending'. 

DELTA Shorts is dé filmwedstrijd voor jonge filmmakers. DELTA Shorts is een competitie waarbij iedereen uit Nederland en België in de leeftijd van 14 - 35 jaar een korte film kan inzenden voor de strijd om de DELTA Young Talent Award.

On May 21, 22, 23, Tom Kane is bringing a 3-Day Film Production Workshop to Amsterdam. Tom has had a long and distinguished career in the Film and Television industry. As a Producer, Production Manager, and Assistant Director, his clients have included Twentieth Century Fox, Miramax Films, Columbia Pictures, Warner Bros., ABC Motion Pictures, Universal Pictures, Turner Network Television, CBS, NBC, ABC, and Hallmark Entertainment.

Gouden Film voor TBS (persbericht Nederlands Film Festival)

TBS van regisseur Pieter Kuijpers heeft de status van Gouden Film bereikt. 100.000 filmbezoekers keken de afgelopen weken vol spanning naar de tocht van een ontsnapte TBS-er en zijn gijzelaar. Gisteravond werd de Gouden Film door Rene Mioch uitgereikt tijdens de Rembrandt Awards in Hotel Arena. Voor regisseur Pieter Kuijpers en actrice Lisa Smit was dit een verrassing. Kuijpers: ik wist dat we er dichtbij zaten, maar dat ik nu de Gouden Film krijg uitgereikt is toch wel een verrassing. Ik ben echt superblij dat het publiek in grote getale naar deze film komt.

TBS gaat over Johan (Theo Maassen) die vast zit in een TBS-kliniek voor de moord op zijn vader en zusje. Zijn moeder is de enige die zijn onschuld kan bewijzen, maar zij is al jaren niet te bereiken. Als hij binnen de TBS-kliniek wordt overgeplaatst naar de Long Stay afdeling is voor hem de maat vol. Hij besluit te ontsnappen om op zoek te kunnen gaan naar zijn moeder. De politie is de ontsnapte TBS-er echter al snel op het spoor en in een wanhopige poging aan hen te ontsnappen, gijzelt hij een meisje van 13 (Lisa Smit). Samen met haar begint hij de zoektocht naar zijn moeder.

TBS is geproduceerd door Pupkin Film en BNN co-produceerde de film. Paul Jan Nelissen en Pieter Kuijpers schreven het scenario. Independent Films brengt de film uit in Nederland. TBS draait nog in 38 bioscopen.

De Gouden Film, Platina Film en Diamanten, worden door het Nederlands Film Festival en het Nederlands Fonds voor de Film toegekend wanneer voor een Nederlandse speelfilm of documentaire tijdens de roulatie respectievelijk 100.000, 400.000 en 1.000.000 bioscoopkaartjes zijn verkocht. De Kristallen Film wordt uitgereikt aan Nederlandse documentaires die 10.000 bioscoopbezoekers hebben getrokken.

Sundance prijs voor Nederlandse Documentaire

De documentaire Recycle, waarvan bij Cineco het geluidsnegatief en de prints werden gemaakt, van de in Nederland wonende Jordaans-Palestijnse filmmaker Mahmoud Al Massad heeft op het Sundance festival de Documentary Award gekregen in de categorie World Cinema Cinematography. De producent is iSee Film.

Veel lof voor Gitmek (My Marlon and Brando) op IFFR

De co-productie Gitmek (internationale titel: My Marlon and Brando; Turkije/UK/NL) heeft na de wereldpremière op 26 januari het International film Festival te Rotterdam veel lof gekregen. De critici waren het erover eens dat deze road-movie de beste film uit Turkije was van het afgelopen jaar. Naast de inhoud en het hoge documentaire gehalte van deze film vielen ook de prachtige beelden van Iran, Irak en Oost-Turkije bijzonder in de smaak. Cineco is dan ook trots de gehele post-productie van deze film te hebben begeleid. De executive producer, Lucinda Englehart, heeft alvast laten weten haar volgende productie hier ook onder te brengen.
